Late Night with Daddy Pants (how Chase says Daddy Spence)

I was pulling my hair out the other day….it was a long day.  I didn’t feel good and the kids had worn me out.  Spence offered to take Ree up to the White Corrals with him to feed and Hayes offered to watch Chase so that I could relax and take a shower.  Only one problem.  Chase was not to be denied.  He does not want to be left behind when it comes to going anywhere on the ranch.  As Spence was leaving with Ree, Hayes distracted Chase with a TV show long enough for them to get out to the truck.  But my guilt-o-meter kicked in.  What the heck….my shower could wait and I really didn’t think going could make me feel any worse, so I snatched Chase up and ran to join Spence.  I’m really glad I did.  The kids had a great time and wouldn’t you know it, I actually felt better by the time we got home 4 hours later!

Ree had started getting attached to soft blankets.  I have tried to avoid having another blankie baby after the crazy addiction Hayes had with his “horsie” blanket, but she still finds ways to get around me.

She doesn’t really have a favorite, must-have blanket, but on this day, she really wanted to take this blanket with her into the cow pens.  I really didn’t want the blanket drug through the wet manure, so we compromised.

Sing a song of six pence, a pocket full of rye

After feeding all of the calves in the pens, Spence decided he needed to drive some of the calves he had turned out back closer to the waters.  Afterwards, he took the kids for rides.

Ree’s tennis shoes were covered in manure so I took them off while she climbed on the seats of the truck.  Luckily, we had our handy veggie tales blanket to wrap her toes in. :)

It was dark by the time Chase got his turn, but it only magnified his happy smile!

Good choice, Kellie.
